  • Is War Child Canada a registered charity?

    Yes, War Child Canada is a registered Canadian charity. Our charitable registration number is 87230 4813 RR0001.



  • How can I support War Child Canada?

    The best way to support War Child is to host your own fundraising event. Registering your event is easy, click here to get started!

  • Who can host a fundraiser?

    Anyone with a passion for creating positive change for children affected by war can host a fundraiser! Whether you're an individual, a group of friends, a community club, a school, or a business, you're welcome to join our fundraising movement.



  • What kind of fundraiser can I host?

    There are many ways you can support our mission at your school, in your community or in the workplace. Be as creative as you'd like!

  • What are some tips for reaching my fundraising goal?

    • Make the first donation to your own page — it increases donations by up to 84%! Then, dare your friends to match it. 
    • Share frequently on social media and email your network.
    • Include your fundraising link or QR code in all communications.

  • Can I use the War Child logo?

    We have a special "community fundraising" logo that you can use on your event and promotional materials. 


    Once you register your event here, you'll gain access to logos, editable templates, sample messaging, photos, event planning tools, and more through our Virtual Content Repository!


  • Are donations tax-deductible?

    Yes. Online donations made through your fundraising page that are $10 or more will automatically generate a charitable tax receipt, issued via email. Donations must comply with CRA and War Child Canada receipting guidelines.

  • How much of the money raised goes to War Child?

    100% of the donations War Child receives supports our critical programs. 


    When a donation is made, a minimal donor-covered transaction fee is taken by the platform donation processer (e.g. Stripe, Amazon Pay and/or Paypal), as well as CrowdChange's platform fundraising fee. 

  • What donation methods do we use?

    After registering your event, your fundraising page can accept donations made online using most major credit and debit cards. 


    Unfortunately, we cannot accept cash donations. If you’re hosting a fundraiser and would like to submit the funds raised, please ensure they are donated online. 


    This ensures donations are processed safely and quickly, and tax receipts can be issued where applicable.

  • Can I earmark funds?

    All money raised by third-party fundraisers are unrestricted revenue. This allows War Child to be nimble, responding to where the needs are the greatest. 


    By contributing unrestricted funds, you help us deliver the most effective, locally-driven support to children and families who need us most.



  • Can War Child reimburse event expenses or apply for permits?

    Unfortunately, no. War Child  is here to help make your fundraiser the best it can be, while at the same time following the guidelines laid out by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).


    We cannot reimburse event expenses or apply for event-related permits, licenses (e.g., raffles, alcohol), or insurance. 


    Be sure to follow all local regulations when planning your event to ensure it is legal.

  • What is CrowdChange?

    CrowdChange is a powerful online fundraising platform. By setting up your event here, you'll:

    • Get a link to a personal fundraising page.
    • Be able to accept online donations, sell event tickets, and manage registrations.
    • Provide anyone who supports your cause with an automatically issued tax receipt (for donations over $10)
    • Set a goal and track progress in real time.
    • Access tons of exciting features, from peer-to-peer fundraising to selling e-cards!
  • Where can I get help with my fundraiser on CrowdChange?

    Once you've registered your event and created your online fundraising page through CrowdChange, you’ll receive our content repository and access to a suite of self-serve tools — but you’re never alone!


    For technical support (e.g., customizing your page, managing donations, or troubleshooting issues), visit the CrowdChange Support Center
